It’s March, and we’ve all heard that expression; In like a Lion, out like a Lamb…
In today’s world it seems more than ever we need both parts of ourselves, the Lion and the Lamb, in a combination that I’m calling ‘soft fierceness’.
More than ever before we’re challenged to be kind, to show compassion, yet to also hold onto our courage as we face unprecedented challenges to our environment, our communities, and our very sense of safety.
The sheer volumes of information from around the globe about conflict, climate crises and cataclysms such as the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, coming at us at the speed of light, combined with the events in our own backyards, are overwhelming. There’s simply no way our low-tech sensory bodies can keep up with an increasingly high-tech information grid. Add that to the arrival of AI, and the lamb inside of us may simply want to go out to pasture and munch some delicious, low-stress grass (Cannabis, anyone?).
But here’s the thing: As a wise astrologer/activist recently said: “We’re the only ones who can make a difference” in the challenges we are facing. And to quote Margaret Mead, the brilliant anthropologist and social scientist: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
Each one of us can make a difference in our worlds - we already have, simply by being here. I’m going to use the Lion of March to inspire courage to effect change in ways that may be small, but, as expressed by Mother Theresa, done with great love. Perhaps you have a cause you want to fight for, along with others inspired to do the same. On any given day there are multitudes, locally and around the globe.
Here are some words from the Serenity Prayer which I’m relying on heavily these days:
May God/Goddess/Higher Power/Source grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
In whatever way the Lion and Lamb of March speak to you, I wish you the same: Serenity, Courage, and Wisdom. And a good raincoat :-).
And speaking of Lions and Lambs, I’m delighted to announce my upcoming journey to Scotland, co-lead by the amazing Hope Fitzgerald. Space is limited, so register early! It promises to be a transformational journey.
And be on the lookout for upcoming announcements for an ongoing Tarot workshop and my podcast “Pinging the Quantum” co-hosted with the phenomenal Rhonda Purvis - artist, poet, and polymath extraordinaire! Listen to a sneak-peek excerpt taken from a soft-launch at Hearts & Sol Wellness in Southport, NC, as well as a bonus chakra clearing meditation perfect for some chakra spring cleaning!
Love and blessings,
